The Tender Loving Eldercare Blog

A New Resource for Baby Boomers and Caregivers

Baby boomers are people born from 1946 to 1964, which includes me and probably many of you in our Tender Loving Eldercare community.

According to a 2020 study by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), baby boomers make up more than a third (38.5%) of all caregivers in the United States. The study also showed:

  • They are more likely to be women (61.7%).
  • They are more likely to be White (74%), compared to Black/African Americans (11%), Hispanic (9%), and Asians/Pacific Islanders (1%).
  • More than half have been providing care for at least 2 years.
  • More than one-quarter provide more than 20 hours per week of care.

That’s a lot of caregiving by boomers!

I am honored and thrilled to have been invited to become a content contributor for BabyBoomer.org, an online community created by and for baby boomers in order to serve and support our generation.  A wide range of topics on their site include health, lifestyles, relationships, money, travel, technology, news and more, all geared toward baby boomers’ interests and experiences.  Their free resources include podcasts, blog posts, videos, online courses (paid), and content by experts in many fields. Annual membership is $20 per year to join the community but you can access many of these resources at no charge.

There is an entire section under Health devoted to Caregiving! Yay!! Family caregivers need more resources!
