Inspiring Quotes for Caregivers — 1/21/09

January 21st, 2009

Here are five quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr. that “spoke” to me as a caregiver. Do you relate to them, too? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”

*************************

Everyone has the power of greatness. Not for fame, but greatness. Because greatness is determined by service.

*************************
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

*************************
We must build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.

*************************
We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.

Great quotes! This one we could say to ourselves every day: “Everyone has the power of greatness. Not for fame, but greatness. Because greatness is determined by service.”

“Small service is true service. The daisy, by the shadow that it casts, protects the lingering dewdrop from the sun. – William Wordsworth

Having got that off, where and when may I buy you a cuppa? A cuppa for us WOGs (Westernized Oriental Gentlemen – used derisively by the Colonial Brits)is a cup of tea. Coffee will do I suppose.

Hi Linda. “Everyone has the power of greatness. Not for fame, but greatness. Because greatness is determined by service.”

This one resonates the most with me. When I know I’ve helped someone, I feel like a real human being and, like a million bucks.

    Hi SpaceAgeSage — Lori,

Yes, it does make a wonderful daily affirmation, doesn’t it? I like your thinking.

    Hi rummuser,

Thank you for sharing the beautiful Wordsworth quote with us all! Sorry, I’m not much of a tea drinker. My husband knows I’m really sick when I’m drinking tea. So I’m glad coffee will be OK. LOL

    Hi Davina,

I agree. Isn’t that a wonderful, indescribable “high on life” kind of feeling?
