Hi Dr. Cason,

It's interesting that some very important life skills (i.e. making a marriage work, parenting, caregiving) aren't taught in school. Hence, my blog. Hope my writings help you in the future.

So funny that chicken joke! I just read through all your posts for the last week (this being the last one I read and wanted to comment on) and was enjoying the writing but not thinking it pertained much to me but all of a sudden I just realized in a few years it will be me. It's never too early to start thinking of talking. Even now- so you know later.

Rita,

Thank you for your heartfelt comment! And for sharing your touching volunteer experience with me. I understand and have felt the heartache you were around, but also know the treasures you gleaned from the experience.

Keeping a positive attitude is a MUST for getting through life, no matter what our challenges. I'm grateful that I was raised with this important belief and want to share it with others.

I loved the column in Reader's Digest (my parents got it while I was growing up) and I also loved Art Linkletter's show (& book), Kids Say the Darnedest Things. Ring a bell?

You couldn't have picked a better day to comment. My commenters have declined this week, and I was getting lonely out here in the blogosphere! I wish I had time to comment every day on all of my favorite blogs, but writing for TLeC has to come first.

Will be keeping an eye on your blog and book publishing progress, and comment when I can!

Thanks so much!

Linda,
I have so much admiration for what you do. I am always afraid to comment, because your words leave me so touched, and remind me of the 2 years I spent working in a geriatric hospital as a volunteer, learning to change sheets under comatose patients. All I wanted to do the rest of the time was LISTEN. This was history come alive, and people who NEEDED to be listened to. So mutually beneficial - until the day I'd walk in and the bed was empty. To this day I...

Well, thanks for the supremely excellent chuckles!
Though I stop by each time you post, this is the first time I've left a comment. Thank you. Indeed laughter IS the best medicine, a column, I believe that existed - or still exists in "Reader's Digest!"

Thank you - and thank you for the beautiful comment you left for me the other day.
