Consulting for Families
“What Do I Do NOW?!” . . . is the question I hear most often from my clients.
I’ve Sat Where You Sit
I’ve had feelings of doubt and uncertainty over whether my aging parents need more assistance and what form that help should take.
I’ve felt the overwhelming quandry of not knowing where to get answers quickly to my caregiving questions and where to begin looking for answers.
I’ve experienced anger and resentment because I knew it was my parents calling . . . perhaps for the tenth time that week!
I’ve also felt guilty when I didn’t answer the phone or see them when they asked because I needed to spend time instead with my spouse, children or just by myself.
And if you are already a veteran family caregiver, are you feeling it’s just too much to deal with and you want to run away from it all?

Tender Loving Eldercare Consulting Services will help you cope with these challenges and many others. I begin our working relationship with a 20 minute free phone consultation to see how I can best help you on your caregiving journey. Please call me at 714-343-8252 or contact me here to discuss which option below is right for you and your family.
Every program includes (but is not limited to):
1. Assessment – What is your loved one’s current condition (physical, cognitive, emotional, nutritional, and safety level while engaging in activities of daily living)? Do your parents each need different levels of care? What other issues and questions do you (or they) need me to address?
2. Communication Skills — This may include interactions between you and your aging parents, between you and your siblings re caregiving approaches and responsibilities, and/or between you and the staff of a care facility or medical professionals. Guidance is provided about how to start talking about those hard-to-discuss topics with your aging parents, such as their future care, finances, legal matters and end-of-life decisions.
3. Care Map Design — We create a care map of what steps to take next, with both long-term and short-term caregiving goals in mind. Can your aging relative remain in their home safely or do they need to move elsewhere for additional care? How do you know when it’s actually time to make a change? How to research, visit and select options for the next level of care. If they remain at home, putting systems in place for assistance with meal preparation, driving, paying bills, etc.
4. Resources — It honestly takes a village to be a family caregiver. Tender Loving Eldercare helps find and maintain a local network of people to help you best care for your aging parents, including professionals and family, friends or neighbors. I also connect you with local associations and organizations (online and off line) that specialize in helping seniors. There are many little caregiving tips and strategies I share that can make a big difference going forward.
5. Follow Up — Each caregiving journey is unique because every person ages in their own way and time. Tender Loving Eldercare Consulting Services follows up with your family on a regular basis and makes adjustments to your loved one’s ”care map” if needed as your caregiving journey unfolds.
